Εορταστικές εκδηλώσεις και ωράριο καταστημάτων στο Ρέθυμνο

Κάθε δρόμος και γιορτή, κάθε πλατεία και εκδήλωση στο Ρέθυμνο, που φοράει τα καλά του και διασκεδάζει στην πόλη και τους οικισμούς.

Για την ψυχαγωγία μικρών και μεγάλων έχουν φροντίσει αρχές και φορείς, για να «ανέβει» η ψυχολογία των μεγάλων και να ξεχάσουν για λίγο τα προβλήματα της καθημερινότητας και να περάσουν καλά οι μικροί, οι πρωταγωνιστές των γιορτών.

Η δεύτερη φάση των εκδηλώσεων που διοργανώνει ο Εμπορικός Σύλλογος σε συνεργασία με το Επιμελητήριο, ξεκινάει με τις μουσικές παραστάσεις που θα δοθούν σήμερα, Σάββατο, στην οδό Εθνικής Αντιστάσεως από τις 11.00 έως τη 13.00 καθώς επίσης και το party στην Αγορά της Καλλιθέας την ίδια ώρα.

Το κουιντέτο χάλκινων πνευστών οργάνων CRETA BRASS με την σοπράνο Βιργινία Μελιγκουνάκη και την άλτο Ελένη Αλεξαντωνάκη, θα πραγματοποιήσει τη μεγάλη της συναυλία στο «Σπίτι του Πολιτισμού» την Κυριακή 20/12 στις 12 το μεσημέρι. Παράλληλα την ίδια μέρα και για την διευκόλυνση των μεγάλων στα ψώνια τους από την αγορά του Ρεθύμνου, τα παιδιά θα περάσουν πέντε πολύ ευχάριστες ώρες δημιουργικής απασχόλησης στο Κέντρο Νέων από τις 10.00 το πρωί έως τις 3.00 το απόγευμα.

Το ταξίδι των εκδηλώσεων συνεχίζεται με το θεατρικό έργο: "ΜΑΓΙΚΟΣ ΑΥΛΟΣ" του Β.Α. Μότσαρτ, μια θεατρική παράσταση αφιερωμένη στα παιδιά, αλλά και όσους αισθάνονται παιδιά που θα πραγματοποιηθεί την Δευτέρα 21/12 και την Τρίτη 22 στις 6 το απόγευμα και την Τετάρτη 23/12 στις 4, όλες στο «Σπίτι του Πολιτισμού».
Το έργο είναι βασισμένο στο λιμπρέτο του Εμμάνουελ Σικανέντερ και είναι μια παραγωγή της εταιρείας Τέχνης και Πολιτισμού Ρεθύμνου "ΕΙΔΟΜΕΝ" σε σκηνοθεσία του Μανώλη Ζαχαράκη.

Αξίζει να σημειωθεί ότι η παράσταση της Τετάρτης είναι μια προσφορά της Νομαρχιακής Αυτοδιοίκησης Ρεθύμνου.

Παράλληλα τη Δευτέρα 21/12 στις 7.30 το απόγευμα θα γίνει το Μεγάλο Εορταστικό party για μικρούς και μεγάλους στην οδό Τσουδερών.

Διάφορες εορταστικές εκδηλώσεις του Σαββατοκύριακου

- Χριστουγεννιάτικη γιορτή για παιδιά δημοτικού διοργανώνουν τα Εικαστικά Eργαστήρια του Μουσείου Σύγχρονης Τέχνης Κρήτης το Σάββατο 19 Δεκεμβρίου, στα πλαίσια των Xριστουγεννιάτικων εκδηλώσεων του Δήμου Ρεθύμνου.
Η εκδήλωση θα φιλοξενηθεί στο χώρο του Μουσείου, στην οδό Χειμάρας 5 και θα ξεκινήσει στις 12 το μεσημέρι.
Τη γιορτή πρόκειται να πλαισιώσει μουσικά η Φιλαρμονική του Δήμου και σε αυτή θα μοιραστούν βιβλία στα παιδιά από την κ. Βαρβάρα Τερζάκη, προσφορά των εκδόσεων «Καστανιώτη».

- Χριστουγεννιάτικες κατασκευές από τον παιδικό σταθμό «Μορμόλης», 10 - 12.30 το πρωί στο «Σπίτι του Πολιτισμού».

- Το έργο του Ευγένιου Τριβιζά «Το μεγάλο ταξίδι του Τουρτούρι» σε μουσική του Νίκου Κυπουργού παρουσιάζει σήμερα, Σάββατο, το 1ο δημοτικό σχολείο Ρεθύμνου, στο «Σπίτι του Πολιτισμού» στις 5.30 το απόγευμα.

- Από τις 10 το πρωί μέχρι τις ...10 το βράδυ του Σαββάτου, Χριστουγεννιάτικο παζάρι από το CLUB ΑΡΓΟΣΧΟΛΟΙ. Τα έσοδα θα διατεθούν στο Ειδικό νηπιαγωγείο – δημοτικό σχολείο

- Συναυλία από τη Συμφωνική Ορχήστρα Νέων Δήμου Ρεθύμνου, υπό την διεύθυνση του μαέστρου της Ρίνο Χριστ, θα πραγματοποιηθεί την Κυριακή 20 Δεκεμβρίου, στις 8.30 το βράδυ, στο «Σπίτι του Πολιτισμού».
Ως σολίστ συμμετέχουν οι Μυρσίνη Μπεκάκου, βιολί, και Αλεξάνδρα Βεργαδή, Μαριέλλα Βιτώρου και Μάκης Καραδελόγλου, φωνές.
Η είσοδος είναι ελεύθερη

- Στρατιωτικό Μουσείο Χρωμοναστηρίου 12.00 - 13.00: Θεατρική παράσταση «Χριστουγεννάτικη ιστορία», του Κ. Ντίκενς, από την ομάδα ΟΜΜΑ ΣΤΟΥΝΤΙΟ. Διοργάνωση Δήμος Ρεθύμνου.

- Ο «Θεατρικός Περίπλους» ανεβάζει τη Σταχτοπούτα μέχρι τις 24 Δεκεμβρίου στον καινούριο του χώρο στην οδό Κουρμούλη 127, στις 7.30 το απόγευμα.

ΔΕΥΤΕΡΑ 21 ΔΕΚΕΜΒΡΙΟΥ
- Το Σχολείο Δεύτερης Ευκαιρίας Ρεθύμνου διοργανώνει Χριστουγεννιάτικο παζάρι με πολλά δώρα και εκπλήξεις, στις 6 το απόγευμα, στην πλατεία 4ων Μαρτύρων.

- «Καλήν εσπέραν άρχοντες», στους Κούμους του δήμου Ρεθύμνου, 6.30 – 8.30.
Οι ομάδες χορωδίας των Γ’ και Ε’ ΚΑΠΗ Ρεθύμνου τραγουδούν με μουσική συνοδεία των Μ. Παυλάκη και Αδ. Μυξάκη σε συνεργασία με τον Πολιτιστικό Σύλλογο Κούμων.
H ομάδα χορωδίας του Β’ ΚΑΠΗ θα τραγουδήσει συνοδεία των δυο μουσικών την Τρίτη στο Χρωμοναστήρι και το Ρουσσοσπίτι από τις 5.30 ως τις 7.30 το απόγευμα σε συνεργασία με τους πολιτιστικούς συλλόγους των δυο οικισμών.
Την Τετάρτη 23 Δεκεμβρίου οι χορωδίες των Α’ και Δ’ ΚΑΠΗ θα πουν τα κάλαντα στην παλιά πόλη με εκκίνηση από την πλατεία των Tεσσάρων Μαρτύρων και θα καταλήξουν στην πλατεία Μικρασιατών της παλιάς πόλης, μια εκδήλωση που γίνεται σε συνεργασία των ΚΑΠΗ με το Σωματείο Εστίασης και Αναψυχής και το Σύλλογο Κατοίκων Παλιάς πόλης.

ΤΡΙΤΗ 22 ΔΕΚΕΜΒΡΙΟΥ
- Η Δημοτική Φιλαρμονική θα παιανίζει στους δρόμους του Εμπορικού Κέντρου

- Την ίδια ημέρα στο δημοτικό σχολείο Αρμένων στις 7.30 το απόγευμα η θεατρική παράσταση «Χριστουγεννιάτικη ιστορία» του Κ. Ντίκενς, από την ομάδα STUDIO ΟΜΜΑ, υπό τη διοργάνωση του Δήμου Ρεθύμνου.

ΤΕΤΑΡΤΗ 23 ΔΕΚΕΜΒΡΙΟΥ
- Γιορτή του μαθητή από τις 11 το πρωί μέχρι τις 2 το μεσημέρι στο «Σπίτι του Πολιτισμού», μια διοργάνωση του Εμπορικού Συλλόγου με συμμετοχή του Μουσικού Σχολείου και του κουιντέτου CRETA BRASS

- Χριστουγεννιάτικη συναυλία στις 8 το βράδυ από τη μικτή Δημοτική και Παιδική χορωδία στο Ωδείο (Τζαμί Νερατζέ)

- Χριστουγεννιάτικη εκδήλωση πραγματοποιείται, στις 7 το απόγευμα από τον Πολιτιστικό – Επιμορφωτικό – Εξωραϊστικό Σύλλογο Ρουστίκων, στην αίθουσα του πολιτιστικού κέντρου "Πέτρος Παναγιωτάκης" στα Ρούστικα.
Η Θεολόγος κ. Ευαγγελή Κουκουράβα θα αναπτύξει το θέμα: «ΧΡΙΣΤΟΣ ΓΕΝΝΑΤΑΙ ΣΗΜΕΡΟΝ» Τα Χριστούγεννα χθες και σήμερα.
Η εκδήλωση θα διανθιστεί με Χριστουγεννιάτικους ύμνους, από τον πρωτοψάλτη κ. Αντώνη Μιχελουδάκη. Την αφήγηση θα κάνει η Εύα Περπυράκη.

- Ο τομέας Οικονομίας και Διοίκησης του ΕΠΑ.Λ Γαράζου διοργανώνει Xριστουγεννιάτικο παζάρι από τις 9:00π.μ έως τις 12:00 μ.μ στο Δημαρχείο του Γαράζου. Τα έσοδα του παζαριού θα διατεθούν στο ίδρυμα «Αγάπη».

Ξεκινάει η εκπαίδευση της 17ης Σχολής Ιστιοπλοΐας Ανοιχτής Θαλάσσης στις 17 Ιανουαρίου

Κάθε χρόνο τον Ιανουάριο ο Ιστιοπλοϊκός Όμιλος Ρεθύμνου διοργανώνει Σχολή Ιστιοπλοΐας Ανοικτής Θάλασσας με εκπαιδευτή τον Μάκη Βασιλάκη από τους πιο έμπειρους εκπαιδευτές στην Κρήτη, έχοντας διοργανώση 93 εκπαιδευτικές σειρές σε όλη την Κρήτη.

Τα μαθήματα της Σχολής διαρκούν έξι Σαββατοκύριακα.
Η πρακτική εξάσκηση γίνεται πάνω στο σκάφος, σε δύο τμήματα.
Το πρώτο τμήμα κάνει μαθήματα το Σάββατο και την Κυριακή από τις 9:00 έως τις 13:00 και το δεύτερο από τις 13:00 έως τις 17:00.
Τα θεωρητικά μαθήματα διεξάγονται από κοινού και για τα δύο τμήματα στο εντευκτήριο του Ομίλου από τις 18:00 έως τις 21:00.

Την Τετάρτη 14 Ιανουαρίου στις 7μ.μ. θα γίνει συνάντηση υποψήφιων ιστιοπλόων της 17ης ΣΙΑΘ με τον εκπαιδευτή κύριο Μάκη Βασιλάκη στο γραφείο του Ιστιοπλοϊκού Ομίλου, Σοφοκλή Βενιζέλου "Δελφίνι".

International Confernce of Economic and Social History

Economic and social history have given great impetus in the Greek historical studies during the 1970s and 1980s and have contributed to the renewal of thematic, research and methodology that has built on heated discussions and has resulted in an upsurge of production of studies. Although a remarkable production of scholarly research on a Greek and international level has continued during the 1990s and to the present day, the academic dialogue among scholars on Greek economic and social history has not been systematic and the interrelations between empirical research and theory has weakened. The Greek paradigm, despite the different and isolated attempts, has not been explored in its totality and has not been integrated in the international academic dialogue.

In order to overcome this situation, a group of historians, economists and social scientists, that publishes in the internet the Electronic Bulletin of Economic History (Hlektroniko Deltio Oikonomikis Istorias) with the acronym HDOISTO (www.hdoisto.gr), and organizes since September 2005, a biweekly Open Seminar of Economic and Social History, has decided to put together the first International Conference of Economic and Social History. The aim is to give the opportunity to Greek scholars and their colleagues abroad to participate in the exchange of ideas in economic and social history among historians, economists and researchers from different fields.

Greek Association of mountaineers Rethymnon

The mountain calls also on the island of Crete with its high mountain regions between Hania and Rethymnon ("White Mountains"), between Rethymnon and Heraklion ("Psiloritis" / "Mount Ida") and between Heraklion and Agios Nikolaos ("Dicta Mountains") with their foothills and plateaus in the eastern part of the island. The direct neighborhood between high mountains in the middle, steep cliffs and rocks at the south coast and long white beaches along the northern coast of the island rewards the mountain hiker at any time of the day with an unforgettable view that lets him forget all troubles of the ascent.

Winter on Crete is not just the soft rain at the coasts and in the valleys falling on orange and lemon trees giving life to the earth, which is longing for water from May to October, it is not just the winter storms lashing the waves like furies in rage. No, in the Cretan mountains snow is falling day by day. The temperatures in the evenings have fallen steadily since September to a level, that you can see the villagers in their winter parkas, when the last tourists are taking their dinner at the "platia", the village square, freezing in their bermuda shorts and blouses. From November to February we villagers are quite alone again, and some villages are always cut off by snow.
It's time for mountaineering.

The Greek Association of Mountain Climbers of Rethymnon are organizing excursions all over the year for their members and - after an old Cretan custom - friends and family members are always welcome.
To be mountain climber or hiker is no hobby, no sport. It is a way of life characterized by long lasting friendly relations between humans, who reach together their common goal: To be one with the nature of the mountains.

About Rethymno

Rethymno is the ideal place to stay while visiting Crete Island. Not only for the very interesting sightseeing, beaches and tastes that you can find in the town and the countryside but also for the central spot that is located that will allow you to organize excursions all over Crete.

You can easily access Rethymno via the ferry port (with daily link with Piraeus port) or via the two airports of Chania (50 km) and Heraklion (70 km). Car or bike rental is strongly recommended as they will offer you the opportunity to visit the countryside where many elements of Cretan tradition still exist. You have to be extremely careful while driving during high season period (July-September) when the urban and country road network is overloaded.

A common question is about the best period for visiting Rethymno (and Crete in general). The majority obviously prefer the summer period which is the longest among the Greek islands and lasts from early April to late October. During these 7 months all big hotels are open and the daily charter flights provide the opportunity to visit Crete from all over world. But I’m quite sure that for many of you, traveling abroad is not only vacation but also a way to meet different people and cultures. If you really want to be in touch with local people and local way of life, I personally recommend visiting Rethymno from October to May when the local life is at the normal rhythms and the town is not just a “tourist playground”. Just have in mind that the winter in Crete is not very heavy not even in January and that low cost airways (easyjet etc) have recently included Heraklion and Athens airports at their network all year long.

The old town of Rethymno is a place where beside the picturesque old buildings and streets (coming from the Venetian and Ottoman period) you can also find a big variety of dinning and entertainment facilities. Take into consideration that during summer period the old town of Rethymno is a pedestrian district so you have to leave your vehicle in a parking nearby (just beside the ferry port is a convenient one) and enjoy walking around. Another recommended way of gadding about is to use one of the municipal bicycles that you can have for free from one of the specific municipal spaces (behind the Town Hall and in the parking place beside the municipal garden are the more central ones).

Bicycle ride in the history of Rethymno

The association of people in Rethymno that come from Asia Minor, in cooperation with the association “friends of the bicycle” are organizing a bicycle ride in Rethymno Old Town through the streets, the buildings and the monuments of the first people that arrived in Rethymno as refugees from Asia Minor after the people exchange of 1922.
The bicycle ride will start from Venetian port (where the first refugees arrived) on Sunday 20^th of January 2008, at 11 a.m.

Canterbury Tales in the Venetian Harbour, Rethymnon

From the flyer: SHIP OF FOOLS is a ninety year old seaworthy vessel that continues the good and old tradition of the travelling buffoon. She is an artist's family from many different countries, dedicated to the Arts and to the Seas. Their world travel is an endless pilgrimage in praise of Folly. Their passion is comic theatre. The ship is transformed into an absurd floating sculpture that serves as transport, home and kitchen, as workshop for theatre, costume and film and as scene and backdrop to their show. In 2007 they travel from Barcelona to Istanbul with a typical Azart version of the "Canterbury Tales" that combines comic theatre, comedia dell'arte, object theatre, music hall and operetta with the visual richness of the costumes and the natural setting of the Harbour of Rethymnon.
